CMIA is committed to being a socially responsible investor and corporate citizen. We invest in companies that:
- adopt good environment policies and practices
- produce safe and useful products
- support efforts to promote the well-being of the local community
The other key aspect of our commitment is expressed by our charity initiative. Through our charitable giving programs, we are able to help charity organisations in assisting their beneficiaries. For 2007/8, our designated charities are:
- Food from the Heart: The Food from the Heart ("FFTH") organisation is a registered charity which reaches out to more than 11,000 beneficiaries every month with free bread and food items. FFTH's Food Goodie Bag Program, which delivers weekly/monthly supplies of non-perishable food items to needy families directly, has grown to 15 distribution centres and supports more than 700 needy families through its 1,600 volunteers. For more information, please visit www.foodheart.org.
- Lakeside Family Centre: Lakeside is a registered charity which provides counselling, financial assistance and development services to needy families, juvenile offenders and troubled youths. Lakeside's quality services are furnished to beneficiaries regardless of race, language or religion. Through its two family service centres, Lakeside serves thousands of needy beneficiaries each year. For more information, please visit www.lakeside.org.sg.
- Singapore Heart Foundation: The Singapore Heart Foundation ("SHF") is a registered charity which supports patient self-help groups in meeting the needs of heart health care among patients. SHF is also dedicated towards the dissemination of knowledge on the causes and prevention of heart diseases. SHF's initiatives include the Heart Support Fund (funding scheme for needy heart patients and patient self-help groups), Cardiac Rehabiliation Centre (the sole institution in Singapore running a structured community-based cardiac rehabilitation programme) and the "Go Red for Women" campaign (encouraging women to go for regular health screening).
